I teared up a little when I saw this ad for the first time. “Connection” is a piece that is near and dear to my heart. I am sincerely grateful and honored to see it representing The Cherry Creek Arts Festival

This year I decided to take a little time away from traveling and exhibiting my work and give myself some real quality time in the studio I realize what a luxury this is and I am grateful I’m able to be so self-indulgent. My traveling begins in June, until then I’m going to make new work, plant a vegetable garden and just enjoy springtime. .
Here’s my schedule so far and also a few sculptures I’ve been working on, some finished and some in progress I’ll post photos of collage pieces soon, working on lots of those too.

I’ve been curious how it would be to have a blog and now I have one. I have no idea what I’m going to write about here. I guess my work and shows and feelings and animals and food and books and some positive stuff. Please bear with me as I figure out how it works.
Today I am sharing photos of my home and a tiny glimpse of my studio. I live in an old cabin that my grandparents built by hand 80-ish years ago. I spent many childhood days here with my grandma, eating her chicken and dumplings and that fresh corn on the cob straight from her garden. She taught me about nature and clouds and old wives tales and how to brush my teeth with a twig from a birch tree. I appreciate that both of my grandmas passed their love of plants and gardening on to me. I grew up to be an unapologetic plant hoarder because of those two women.
Over the past 6(?) years my potter/carpenter friend Jon has pretty much redone the entire house for me (there’s still lots of work to do though) he also built my beautiful studio behind the cabin. The cabin and studio are the same square footage, by the way. I love it here; the woods, the old history filled cabin and my studio all work to fuel my imagination and work every single day. This place is completely home to me and I am forever grateful to live in such a special piece of family history surrounded by nature.
Maybe I’ll take some photos of the studio for my next post.
